On the occasion of the extraordinary landing of the Boeing 737/200 aircraft company Aviogenex from Belgrade at the Podgorica Airport in Golubovci, the Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro provides:

The plane Boeing 737/200, Aviogenex from Belgrade, on charter flight AGX 384 from Zakynthos (Greece) to Belgrade (Serbia), with 16 passengers and 6 crew members, landed extraordinarily at Podgorica Airport in Golubovci at 10.34 local time.

The crew of the plane decided to land at the Podgorica airport from precaution because, as it reported to the Podgorica control of the flight, smoke in the passenger and flight cabin appeared.

The Turkish Aviation Agency has granted Turkish Airlines permission to operate flights between Istanbul and Podgorica, and vice versa three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) for the summer season from June 24 to October 28, 2010. Departure from Istanbul to Podgorica is planned for 9:45, and from Podgorica to Istanbul at 12:30 local time.

The establishment of an air bridge between the Republic of Turkey and Montenegro is an important step in the future cooperation of the two countries.

By introducing this direct line, Montenegro's accessibility and connectivity with significant destinations will be improved.

In the period from 3-12 May 2010, Montenegro was the subject of the Universal Security Oversight Audit Program (USOAP) Universal Security Supervision Program of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The main objective of the control was to check the degree of compliance of Montenegro with ICAO standards and recommended practices (SARPs) related to safety through licensing, aircraft operations, airworthiness, air navigation services, aerodrome facilities, prevention and investigation of aviation accidents, safe transport hazardous substances in the air, etc.

The control concerned all aspects of aviation safety, which are contained in 16 of the total of 18 Annexes to the International Civil Aviation Convention (Chicago, 1944).
