Search and Rescue (SAR)
Search and rescue (SAR) represents the function of monitoring a crisis situation, communication, coordination and search and rescue, first medical aid or medical evacuation, using public and private resources. The Search and Rescue (SAR) service refers to the search for aircraft that are in distress or have suffered an accident and the rescue of injured persons.
The Search and Rescue (SAR) and Environmental Protection (ENV) Section performs tasks related to:
• Supervision regarding the development and implementation of procedures and training of persons from the Operational Communication Center 112 (OCC 112) and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) who participate in the search and rescue of civil aircraft on land and at sea in accordance with international regulations, standards and recommended practice in this area;
• Monitoring of international standards and recommended practices in accordance with ICAO Annex 12 of the Chicago Convention;
• Cooperation with the competent authorities of Montenegro, which are responsible for the implementation and performance of search and rescue operations in civil aviation;
• Cooperation with international organizations and participation in international projects in the area of search and rescue in civil aviation;
• Participation in the provision of equipment and material and technical and financial resources for search and rescue operations.
