
The Civil Aviation Agency (CAA), this year as well, provided support to the Mountain Rescue Service (GSS) of Montenegro in whose value is 55.000€ for Search and Rescue (SAR) activities.
The CAA Director, Ivan Scekic, during the visit to GSS in Niksic, emphasized the importance of continuous cooperation with this important service, that operates on voluntary basis.
“Through the support to the Mountain Rescue Service we provide contribution to strengthening readiness for emergency interventions, to safety of citizens, and hereby to the entire security within the civil aviation system”, Scekic said.
The Agency Director and the Assistant Director for security, facilitations and search and rescue, Krsto Pavicevic, were presented with results of GSS operations, current staff facts, equipment and planned trainings.
Head of the Mountain Rescue Service Montenegro, Zeljko Loncovic, thanked to the civil aviation authority of Montenegro for continuous support, stating that it represents key source of funding the GSS activities.
“Assets granted by the CAA enable us to act more efficiently at inaccessible terrain, specialized trainings and equipment modernization, which directly affects speed and safety of our interventions”, Loncovic stated.
The Agreement on Cooperation between the CAA and Mountain Service, who conducts rescue actions free of charge, stipulates that the assets are used for strengthening operational capacities, training and procurement of equipment.
GSS also participates the search and rescue system, including search missions for locating missing aircraft in mountainous and other inaccessible areas.
