
The Civil Aviation Agency inspectors – Deputy Director for Security, Facilitation and Search and Rescue, Krsto Pavićević, and Head of Civil Aviation Security and Facilitation Section, Aleksandar Novović, participated closure of civil aviation security project “Balkan Spirit II”, held in the period between 18 and 22 May in Washington.
Activities within this project, as well as the event from last week, contributed to obtaining new knowledge and experience in the area of civil aviation security.
Professional gathering, organised by the American TSA – Transportation Security Administration, with the Department of Homeland Security – DHS, assembled representatives of the civil aviation authorities of six Balkan countries.
Partnership with the TSA will result in announced donation of valuable device for security screening of passengers and cargo for the Airports of Montenegro.
Cooperation with the American organisation is established in 2023 through the conducted assessment of the security system at Podgorica Airport, and it will be continued through the “Balkan Spirit III” project that is planned for the forthcoming period.
During the visit, the American experts presented key topics from the area of civil aviation security – from modern challenges and innovations, covering advanced technologies of screening of passengers and baggage, up to cyber security and measures of protection from insider threats.
Participants also had a chance, through study visits to Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, and to Federal Air Marshal Service – FAMS, to comprehend once again highest standards and best practices in the area of civil aviation security.
Thankful notes were awarded to the Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro and other participants for contribution to the “Balkan Spirit II” project, as a commitment to enhancement of aviation security and strengthening regional cooperation, which is of significant influence to aviation community.
