“Air Traffic Flow and Capacity Management (ATFCM) and airport capacity evaluation” workshop

“Air Traffic Flow and Capacity Management (ATFCM) and airport capacity evaluation” workshop was held in the premises of the Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro on 1 and 2 December 2022. The workshop was organised in cooperation with the EUROCONTROL (The European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation), within the EUROCONTROL programme Support to States.

At this two-day workshop, many topics that referred to air traffic flow and capacity management were presented, and the following should be noted:

ATFCM processes,

Exchange of data and messages regarding the flight plan,

Review and use of ATFCM software tools,

Clarification of term “airport capacity”,

Models for calculation/evaluation of airport capacities as regards airside operations,

Passengers demand at airport (landside operations).

The EUROCONTROL experts: Philippe Touchard – the ATFCM training expert, Rebeca Hernandez Montero - the Airport Capacity expert, and Miroslav Spak – the Airport Training expert, shared their extensive experience from the area of planning of flights through congested parts of European airspace, flight organisation when airport traffic is congested, evaluation of airport capacities and prediction of passengers demand at airports, when presenting at this very important and useful workshop.

 

Apart from representatives of the Civil Aviation Agency, this workshop was also participated by representatives of the aviation activities that deal with ATFCM matters on daily basis, namely: Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency SMATSA llc., Airports of Montenegro, ToMontenegro and the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia.

 

The objective of this workshop was to provide all participants with sufficiently detailed insight into operational application of methods at disposal for air traffic flow management, and it is accomplished in entirety.

 

The workshop was also the opportunity to improve cooperation of all stated participants, both on national and international level.
